EDUCATION

A partnership of the Sonoma Valley Chamber of Commerce and Sonoma Valley Unified School District, the Business Education Roundtable (BERT) is dedicated to improving the quality of education in Sonoma Valley by uniting citizens, educators, and the business community.  Pictured at right are the Chamber Board's BERT liaisons with SVHS students at the 2012 Business & Education Breakfast Forum.

BERT has launched several successful initiatives, and programs for job shadowing, mock interviews, and student internships. BERT also provides education and training to local employers and provides assistance with student job placement.

The Chamber provides annual BERT scholarships, to support local education programs that support and encourage college and career skills.

Each April, BERT invites local employers to nominate their outstanding high-school-student employees for the annual Good Work Ethic Awards. Recipients are chosen on the basis of factors such as punctuality, teamwork, initiative, and communication skills. This program gives the business community a rare opportunity to honor students on school premises for their achievements in the workplace.

For information on the Good Work Ethics Award Nomination Form, please call the Chamber office at (707) 996-1033 or write info@sonomachamber.com.
